Welcome to House of Kumpula

My grandfather Eero Kumpula, life long art painter and sculptor, build his home in 1988 to Sinettä, close to Rovaniemi. To continue the artist journey in our family, my production company is called House of Kumpula.

I am an outdoor enthusiast, father, guide, photographer, video producer and director and a life long learner.  My background as a photographer dates back to the mid-2000s, when I found my father's film camera in a dusty warehouse. The hobby evolved to doing occasional small client jobs for a few years, until the enthusiasm faded. I really became interested in the moving image and photography again in 2019 while studying in Chile at the Santiago film school. Since then, I have directed short films and client projects, for example production houses and travel companies. I am currently building a production house, which will be focusing on supporting companies by visual narratives, as well as solving the problems in productions of any kind.

My strength as a photographer is taking the camera to places and situations where others wouldn't be able to take it and also making people feel relaxed in front of the camera. My experience in various outdoor sports gives me the ability to see the northern region, difficult environments and conditions as a wide field of possibilities, and not only as limitations.

The background of my productional know-how is in the tourism industry, where in addition to guiding, I have worked as a supervisor of guide teams as well as planner and producer of travel service products. I have been a production organizer, location manager and scout both in domestic commercial shoots and in international documentary and fiction film productions. I have also produced and directed my own short films, the latest of which "Send and Create" has been a success, having been shown and awarded at several festivals in different countries.

Despite my short career, I have worked in a wide variety of productions and with several world renowned professionals in the field, both in photography and video. My best productional assets are the knowledge of the natures characteristics and how to use them in advantage for the production in hand. I am best suited to outdoor shootings, where The Mother Nature is my closest working partner.

The starting point for everything I do is learning new things and working together with people. I think being outdoors is the key to a lot of happiness in life, and I want to express that in my work. I’ve come to understand that I have become pretty good at what I do, but I still want to challenge myself and develop my skills with every production. I hope that in the future I will be able to develop my skills in as versatile an environment as possible and with different teams.

I am looking for people, companies and projects around me for the coming years, with whom and in which I can realize the same passions and tell stories from the perspective of a Nordic nature lover. I live in Rovaniemi, Finland, but I work all over the Nordic countries and Europe. I have family in Spain which I also visit often.
